'lection time
I think that it is high time I get to writing this little blog...
As I have said, I am a small town newspaper reporter. I have been on the job for less than a year and have no formal journalism training. The job, however, keeps me interested even when it is boring me out of my mind.
What I mean is this: In a small town, the newspaper is one of the places that the crazy people go. The public library, city hall, the cafe on main street. Such are the wierdness hubs of a little 'burg like mine. That is what this blog will be about. (well, mostly anywhay.)
Speaking of city hall, local politics is part of my beat. And wouldn't you know it; it is election time for municipal offices. The Mayor and the Board of Aldermen are up for a recycle, and all but one of those offices (1 Mayor, of course, and seven Aldermen) is being contested. That means that I get the double whammy of wierdos in my office: the regulars and the public officials. I am still trying to decide which crowd is more strange.
In the next few days, I will write a little more in speciffic.
